"The threat is real." - Nathan Petrelli, A Clear and Present Danger

Everyone remembers the Salem Witch trials of the 1600s, right? Innocent people slaughtered or locked up simply because they were accused. That can't happen again, right? We're far too sophisticated and evolved for that now, aren't we? Wrong. It's happening again, thanks to a man named Nathan Petrelli, it has become like the witch trials all over, but not specifically witches, ANY special person is in danger. Nathan's goal is to lock them all up so they can't be a danger anymore.

"I'm a God-fearing man. I just want what is best for our country." – Nathan Petrelli, A Clear and Present Danger

What if you just disappeared? Completely disappeared. One day you're going to work or school and the next you are just gone. You were taken by them because of what you can do, or even what they think you can do. Man gets in a fight with boss and boss accuses man of having ability beyond what is natural. Man disappears. Husbands turn on wives, fathers on sons, daughters on mothers, and soon this great Nation is ripped apart.

"These are our targets. Know them. Hunt them, track them and bring them home alive." - Nathan Petrelli, Building 26

What do you do when everyone you love has turned on you? When everyone you know is against you? A law is passed to turn in any special person, and those who do not follow will find themselves in the same mess. You don't get a jury, a trial, nothing, you're just locked up and erased….like you never even existed. Life goes on.

Sound like the kind of life you want to live? No? Then what if you had the chance to fight back? Not everyone will go quietly. Some will escape and be on the run, others will escape and fight back. They have a right to live. Some will try to reach out for help with their abilities and disastrous consequences will occur. A portal will be opened and people from all worlds and times will be brought to ours.

So the sides have been chosen, where will you fall? Will you side with the government to stop the threat? Or will you fight?

"Two million years of human evolution and this is what we get? You morons." – Max Guevara, Freak Nation

Alliances will be made. Sworn enemies will work together. Brother against Brother. Mother against Son. There is a war coming and you've got to be ready. Only one thing is certain, our world will never be the same.
A way to protect those who weren't already afflicted with HIV, and to perhaps help cure those who were. It was meant to save mankind. Instead, it condemned them to extinction. Entire cities fell virtually overnight. Chaos filled the streets. Governments were overturned, anarchy became the new order. Hope was lost until, almost eighteen months after the ordeal first began, a small group of the brightest minds came together and created a plan to save the world.

In 2025, New Hope was created.

A large, domed facility built just outside Geneva, Switzerland, New Hope was meant to be their salvation. It was safe, from both the elements and the dying victims that still roamed the neighboring hills. There was a chance to start fresh, to create life once more. They simply had to find a cure. Unfortunately, with their own health waning and time running out, a cure was further from their grasps than the stars in the sky.

The answer came, they thought, in the form of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator, LHC was capable of creating a gap, between time and space. It was with this theory that the scientists spent the final moments of their life preparing New Hope for the arrivals. Videotapes, audio recordings, even written instructions were set in place to answer any questions. The message they left was loud and clear. These arrivals were the last hope of a dying planet. Together, they may be able to find a cure. If not, it was up to them to ensure the planet survived.

The year is now 2030.

For five long years, New Hope has remained empty. The scientists are long since dead and the most amazing creation of their time is slowly crumbling from neglect and decay. Yet the LHC has never once faltered in its daily attempts to open the hypothesized rift. And at long last, it is beginning to succeed.

New people are arriving almost daily. Some pulled here without their knowledge, some coming in the name of exploration. Beings of all shapes and sizes, all walks of life, now roam the streets of New Hope. They have been assigned a task by those before them to save the world.

That is, of course, provided they're capable of surviving themselves.

New Hope is a multi-fandom RPG. We allow for most any fictional character from most any fictional setting. This game is set on a Post-Apocalyptic Earth in a fictional city which does not exist in any known fandom. Due to the darker nature of this game, we ask that all applicants be at least 18 years of age or older.

{cityofnewhope | newhopecomms | newhopeooc | newhopemods}

I need to bitch a little, I am really upset. My choir director gave me a B! I have never gotten a B in choir in my life. I always get A's in choir. I missed ONE flippin' rehearsal because I was sick. I even went on my birthday. I don't get B's in choir! And it's not even a B+ just a plain old B. I know he hates me, but come on. I deserved an A damnit, I did everything I was supposed to, even when I didn't want to. I hated a bunch of the songs, but I sang them like I was supposed to. And he can't penalize me for having a panic attack before we sang the star spangled banner when he gave us no notice, it wasn't my fault!

Ugh!!!

ETA: So what if I compared him to Simon Cowell and everyone agreed with me.

First off, just because I've updated three days in a row does not mean I will do it everyday, so do not get your hopes up. However, I hope to be a little more consistant. But don't expect miracles.

Lots of cuts cuz it's long.

Heather showed me her apartment at 11 something last night and then we went to Dunkin Donuts (which I usually call Dunks, just so you know) and I got a medium dunkachino and an everything bagel with vegetable cream cheese, which is pretty much my usual from there. Then as we were leaving, (well we were in the car, we didn't drive away yet), I noticed that I did not seem to have my phone. I asked Heather to call and she did, luckily someone inside picked up and I realized I must have left it there. I went in and got it and went home. Her apartment is nice by the way, smallish, but very cute and at a pretty reasonable price.

Today I have Creative Writing: Playwright, and I was supposed to read Oedipus Rex, but no way in hell am I reading that again. I'll skim it at best. I'm sorry but I don't like the whole doing his mom and killing his dad, cuz yeah, that's gross. Anyway, I'll give it a glance or whatever but I am not reading it again. Or I might blind myself, just like Oedipus. After Creative Writing I have Directing which I already know will be the most fun I'll have all semester. It will be a new experience for me, and Andy has already agreed to be my talent to come to classes with me.

Then I have Popular Hollywood Films with Jeff, and that's going to be a great class. I'm just not sure when I'll be able to watch the flims, but hopefully that's something we can talk about today. I'd hate to drop it because the movies seem like they are going to be really interesting and all that.

After class, well later this afternoon anyway, Jeff, Ally, and I are going to see Underworld: Evolution at the Mall. I think the showtime is 4:15 or something, and I'm excited about that. The movie seems like it's going to be pretty good, and I've heard it's better than the first or something like that. So expect a review as soon as I can get to it. (Can't promise how long it'll be)

My Tuesday/Thursday classes are okayish. Creative Writing: Fiction seems like it's going to be a lot of fun. Theatre History I'm sure will be about the same as last semester, even though it's going to get a little bit harder, and I have to start using some book sources too, I think I'll still do okay.

Next week on Smallville, someone dies. I swear to god if it's Chloe, I'm going to be severely depressed. Veronica Mars and Bones both return Wednesday night, so I'll be taping three things if I get into the show.

Speaking of which, I figured out what I want to take my monologue from, hopefully I don't screw it up too badly. I'm going to ask Bonnie for some feedback after class, I think.

If I don't get into the show, which will actually make it easier for my movie class, but I'm still gonna try out; then I expect I'll be working some nights during the school week.

On Pulled Away I have picked up more characters. Violet Baudelaire, Sam (From into the blue), and Pandora from the Vampire Chronicles...so they should be interesting in addition to my 13 others. Yes I'm addicted, it's like crack.

Finally talked to Cole-mun on AIM last night about a Colebe reunion at milliways_bar and they're cool with it too, so we will see what happens.

Been roleplaying a lot over AIM with Kaela, and we might write a fic together. Last night we crossed over Batman Begins and Veronica Mars which is turning out to be quite interesting. I'll update on this as it becomes available to do so. Hopefully we can come up with something neat.

Joined a new roleplay on GJ, where I'm using Jessica Alba as an AI and playing a new girl at a pretty cool highschool type/boarding school rp. Maybe I'll give the link to that at some point. Simon-mun from DiC is the one who invited me and she is one of the mods, so it's pretty neat.

I've also joined another new roleplay on LJ which I might touch on more later to get interested people, but it's new right now so I don't want to say much about it.

Amber.
So it's the second day of school and I should have slept before 2:30 AM because I am wiped. But no, I was watching a movie instead. Granted, it was a good movie but that's not the point. Today I only have two classes, Creative Writing: Fiction, and Theatre History II. So all in all, it's not too bad of a day except the huge gap between classes. 12:15-3:30 but I'm sure that will equal me, lounging in the caf, on my laptop like every other time I have a huge gap between classes, haha.

I totally just got distracted for like...45 minutes. Anyway since I don't have much time now, I'll just say that yesterday went okay, and that my semester shall be interesting and add more later.

Amber. Out.

So today is my first day back to school, 10-2, four classes in a row with no break, which kind of sucks but it could be worse. I bought my books and they totaled a whopping 53.00 dollars or something like that. I went to Movie Gallery and Wal-Mart yesterday to expand my movie collection and I bought The Ring Two, Fever Pitch, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and War of the Worlds (All at Movie Gallery, it was a buy 2, get 2 sale). At Wal-Mart I bought Into the Blue (which I watched last night and it is surprisingly a good movie), Grind (Which I've never seen but my friend klutzy34 seems to think it's funny, so I decided to give it a try), Labyrinth, Buying the Cow (Which is one of the most funny movies I have ever seen in my life), Se7en (a very awesome and gruesome movie), and I Know What You Did Last Summer/I Still Know What You Did Last Summer in a nice double feature pack. At the school store I bought Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, which was the only one that I did not have. Dakota has a good eye for spotting these things.

I also recently purchased a new alarm clock which is not as annoying as my old one, it's also kind of cute and the light on it changes colors. I woke up to it this morning, I really need to start going to bed before two AM on school nights. But I'm a little wired right now.

Also, you might notice that I actually have links in my links section now, and some of them are links to journals. If any of my friends would like their journal listed among my links, let me know. I did not want to do it and have someone get pissed at me, so only those who respond will be added. You might also notice some of my character journals for roleplays.

Which brings me to my next item, for the past week or so I have had the priveledge of being involved in a very fine and interesting roleplay called Pulled Away. What it is, is you can be any character from anything, and they get pulled out of their world and into a village. It's very entertaining, and addictive (judging by my 14 characters and all). There are a lot of great writers involved too, so if you'd like to check that out, the link is in my link section but for the sake of advertising, I will give it to you here too. Pulled Away It's fairly simple to join, just look at the list of taken characters in the mod journal, and post your application in the appropriate section. You have to do a writing sample but it doesn't have to be long, and it's a lot of fun.

And no, your eyes are not decieving you. Amber did just update her livejournal out of her own free will this morning. Mark it on the calendar because it will not happen often.

Amber. Out.

Been awhile since my last update. Got Firefly on DVD for Christmas, along with Charmed season two from Heather (THANKS!!!), and dad bought me Firefly and Charmed season three, so I am psyched. I also got a cute outfit from Heather, a bath set from Angela, a nutcracker (which I collect) from my parents and some gift certificates and other stuff from people. I passed Exploring Production with a C and I am very happy about that, however I failed Biology, which means that I'll be stuck at MCLA for another year for one freaking class. Tomorrow I have to work and then I have to help Heather pack because she got an apartment, and I am so happy for her.

One of my boards has been down for days and I am so not happy. I have a new layout too, and it's pretty cool. I'll probably keep it for awhile.

Okay so as some of you know I had an old board called Chaos Haven, but it didn't really work out in board format, so we've decided to try something similar in a journal setting, however we opted to use Greatest Journal intead because you get 2000 userpics for free, which is cool. Anyway...

COMMUNITY RULES

First and foremost, this is an RP (roleplay) based community. This means that it is in no way real, nor do we the players believe it to be so. We are merely creating a universe in which we can better our writing skills and have a little fun.

This is a multi-fandom based RP. This means that all genres are welcome. Anything goes, but you must follow the guidelines laid out in the rules. They are as follows.

1/ Apply here

Then you MUST send an email to chaosuniversityadmins@gmail.com, with the following information provided.

a/ A working journal. This means you must set up a journal and apply with that.
b/ Your character's name and where they are from (the fandom). If at all possible, who they are played by, for those that do not know. Later on, your user pictures will help with that.
c/ What position at the school that your character will be in. This means you MUST tell us whether you wish to be a student, professor, groundskeeper, etc. If you wish to be a professor, please specify the course you will be teaching.
d/ Once you've been accepted into the community, add it to your friends list, then please join the OOC community found here. Again, upon acceptance to that community, add it to your friends list.
e/ Now that you are a member, please add pres_leopold, deanluthor, and chosencounselor. From there, you must manually add members to your friends list. It's simple enough. You can find the friends list in the actual community.

An example entry application should look something like this;

Journal: pres_leopold
Character Name: Leopold Alexis Elijah Walker Gareth Thomas Mountbatten, Third Duke of Albany
Nicknames (if any): Leo, Leopold, Your Grace
Position: president
Your Fandom (where the char is from): Kate and Leopold
Played by: Hugh Jackman
AIM SN: this is not necessary at first, but it is a good idea to provide one that coincides with your character of choice.
A Little Bit About: Leopold is a 19th Century Duke, straight out of 1876. He's charming, intelligent, self-assured..blah blah blah.

You get the point. Make sure that we, the admins, are fully aware of who your character is. It makes for better interaction.

Once you've set up your journal, please put basic information about your character on your user info page and add a disclaimer. A sample disclaimer could look like this:

This is an rp. I am not Leopold, nor am I Hugh Jackman. I am simply borrowing the character and the face for the purposes of entertainment.

Also, please put a disclaimer link to this community. If it is not in your user info, you will be asked to put it there immediately. We do not wish to infringe upon any rights here.

2/ Now that you are a member, you must interact with others. Comment as much as possible. The community will thrive on comments. If you are commented by either the president, dean, or the counsellor you MUST reply. Do not fear them (for the most part), they are there to play as well. If you see them about, don't hesitate to speak to them. Remember, interaction is key.

3/ There is a three week posting limit for your journals. This means that at least 1 (one) post every 3 (three) weeks must be made. If you've reached the limit, and have not spoken to an admin about it, either by email or through request, you will be warned of removal.

4/ Be true to your character. For example, Leopold is a gentleman, therefore he would not go out of his way to purposely hurt someone. He would be courteous and self-assured, not quivering in a corner. It is understandable in certain situations for your character to not act like themselves, but remember to keep it believeable. If the character is not normally a flighty ditz, don't act like a flighty ditz. It's that simple.

5/Join all sub-communities, even if you aren't involved. This means the the dorms as well. Even if you aren't a student, it is still a way of interacting.

6/ Please remember that the admins are here to play as well. Be courteous and polite to everyone, that includes the admins. We are not here to rule with iron fists. We are here to enjoy the game as much as the members.

7/ Keep OOC stuff OOC. DO NOT bring OOC issues IC. Also, privacy is key here. Unless it's offered, do not ask other members for personal information. If you know them OOC that is fine, but if you don't, just see them as the character. Nothing more.

8/ Above all else, have fun.

DISCLAIMER: This is an rp based community. No infringement is intended whatsoever. We are not the characters we play. We do not mean any ill intent or malice towards the creators of said characters. We are merely borrowing them for the purposes of entertainment only.

Happy RPing folks!

And that's it, I hope to see some of you over there

<lj:music>The Crow Wicked Prayer on DVD</lj:music>

Thanks to kajivar I was convinced to get a paid LJ account so I could use her fabulous Nip/Tuck mood theme. It's a little strange with a PotO layout but I'll be keeping it for awhile because it took a lot to put it up. The 100 icons for a paid account is nice, I don't have them all uploaded yet though, I'm gonna have to look for some.

Today has been pretty uneventful, went out and bought some soda and all that. I slept till almost noon and Tyler woke me up, then I set up our GJs for a community we are in and all that. Right now I'm just watching The Crow Wicked Prayer. It's a good movie, as I've said before. All the reviews I read say it's trash, but I liked it and the first Crow movie is my favorite movies, so...I can't wait to get some caps for this one so I can make some banners.

I cleaned my room up a little bit and when I was making the bed I knocked over my end table and my dad came up to check on me, he didn't know what happened. I told him and we kinda laughed about it. Nothing broke except my fan which I put back together, so no big deal. Heather and them had a good time last night, she said and I am glad I didn't go because my head hurt and I wouldn't have been able to stand all the racket.

Another cool thing about a paid account, you can do a phone post. I'm not sure how yet but I'll let you know when I figure it out. I think I'm gonna make a Holly banner like my Alyssa one, and maybe Rose later. Whoa my DVD just freaked out, hang on a sec. That was really weird, hope it doesn't do it again. Anyway I'll probably write more later but this is all I have to say for now.
